oh hello Rihanna you freak! Have you heard her new song S&M let me just say, she takes dirty to a whole other level - BUT I guarantee if you listen to it you will not only love the song but will be singing it. Makes me want to dress up in 6 inch heels and dance all night. And if you know me you know that I do NOT often wear heels [much less 6 inch ones] and well I do love to dance so that's not strange. [I have to be honest and I often put on dance and karaoke performances for myself in my apartment - perk of living alone!]
Maybe I'm just in love with this song because I spent the weekend playing Thomas the train and making animal sounds... did I mention I'm a nanny? Well used to be, now its more like random weekend babysitting, but that is what I did Friday night and most of the day Saturday. Now again if you know me you know that I'm totally a "mom" type and love kids so this was actually a really great weekend - annnd the extra cash in my pocket didn't hurt. I hungout with my favorite little 18 month old Charlie, whose favorite things to say are "Choo Choo" and "shoe shoe". Then to add to the cuteness he has a pair of Thomas rain boots that he calls "Choo Shoes" and wears around the house.
Well Monday morning is going to come very early [especially because I'm going to get up and do my yoga, or try very very very hard to anyway] and then its a full day of class! But hey it wasn't a week between posts - go me!

Dear Diary....
Well its official - I'm off to a horrible blogging start. ha I guess I should have warned you all that this might happen... on second thought I'm probably the only person reading this! I'm having flash backs to when I used to try and keep a diary as a kid - every one I tried would have about 20 entries in it for the year and every third one would start "sorry its been so long diary". BUT I am back and going to give this a real attempt!
Its been an interesting week I started classes again on Monday [really the only thing good about that is it means I'm that much closer to being done] but it is a change of schedule and change is always welcome in my book. I was back on Columbia's campus this week and reminded again about how much I do NOT fit in at art school! Don't get me wrong I get along great with everyone I meet and there are some very fun and cool people, but I am so far from "artsy" and "hipster" its ridiculous. I have to admit its fun though always something crazy going on and people watching on campus is like nothing you've ever seen - or maybe you have if you hangout in Wicker Park or 624 S Michigan. Another positive about this semester is I spent less than $100 on books! And that NEVER happened at Northern - perk of art school is everything is "hands on" and "real world" so fewer books!
I did however still do damage in the bookstore because they have an awesome selection of non-school books. So now my reading list is piling up! Right now I'm reading a book called "Room" by Emma Donoghue and was immediately hooked. Its kind of hard to explain but its told from a 5 year old boy's [Jack] perspective and he lives in Room with his Ma. I believe its sort sort of loosely based off of that horrific story about the man that kept his daughter locked in a room for 20-some years of her life and she had a child with him... because all Jack knows is Room and Bed and Lamp and Skylight. It's very interesting because he is a child as well as so sheltered so the language is very different. It is a lot about the relationship between Ma and Jack and the love between a mother and child. I'm assuming in no time at all I'll be crying - I'll let you know.
Well I have a feeling most of my posts will be like this... after I've laid in bed for a good hour NOT falling asleep I'll decide to turn my computer on and hopefully empty some of the clutter built up in my head and then maybe, just maybe fall asleep... so until the next time!

oh Hello!
Well, here it is... my first post! I have to say that I have been thinking/wanting to start a blog for some time - but as you will come to find my life is in a constant state of what I like to call "controlled chaos" so whoop here I am! I also could not think of a name for the longest time. I feel like its a really important aspect of my blog and I had absolutely no idea what it should be. So I decided a line from one of my favorite songs was very fitting, and well some of my friends just might think I'm crazy and if they say so I'd agree so I guess it fits.
I'm not sure what my blog purpose [ok that sounds weird] is going to be either, so be patient with me while I test the waters and see. I think I have a lot to say - my parents actually thought my sister was mute till age two, turns out she had a full vocabulary I just never let her use it - so I don't think I'll have a problem finding what it is. I'm in a very good place in my life and ready and willing to share my experiences, successes, failures, explorations, ups and downs and everything in between.
I mentioned the title of my blog is from one of my favorite songs! O.A.R. "Hey Girl" and if you want to really hear it listen to any live version of the song [and every other O.A.R. song for that matter]. They are probably my all time number one favorite band. I've been a fan since my Senior year of High School when I not only saw them in concert for the first time but hung out with them in a bar the night before the show! Yes I said bar and High School ha don't get all worked up my friend Sean and I were their designated drivers for the night. If anything O.A.R. is not only great music but also memories of some of the best times of my life with the best people in my life.
"My friends say I'm crazy and I agree,
But that's okay cause that's the way I like to be."
